Do I Need A Referral?

No.  You can be seen as a private client. 

If you wish to claim a medicare rebate for the session however,  then yes you will need a referral (Mental Health Care Plan) from your doctor or your psychiatrist. You are entitled to 10 Medicare sessions in a 12 month period. 

The MHCP needs to state your doctors name, their provider number, their signature, how many sessions they would like me to see you for and what you are being treated for.  That is the medical model that we work under and I understand that can be confronting or challenging for a lot of people who may feel pathologised and have experienced trauma and a result of their presentation.
